Connect Sheffield
The city is regenerating itself with all sorts of new initiatives. (By the way, Sheffield currently produces more steel per year than at any other time in its history!) A crucial element in the renewal, Sheffield City Council wanted to develop a set of maps and signs to "improve the user experience of the city, it's places and spaces". The creative team was headed by strategistists City ID, with graphic designers Atelier Works and 3-d designers Pearson Lloyd.
Heads Up Wayfinding
The freestanding totem signs feature panoramic photography, showing the streetscape in front of the sign, which allows instant recognition and a strong sense of place. Diagrammatic maps provide navigation over a wider area, and additional information gives data on key buildings and features. The signs are easily updateable to keep pace as the city changes.
