Connect Sheffield

Sheffield is regenerating itself with all sorts of new initiatives. A crucial element in the renewal, Sheffield City Council wanted to develop a set of maps and signs to “improve the user experience of the city, it’s places and spaces”.

The creative team was headed by strategists City ID, with graphic designers Atelier Works and 3D designers Pearson Lloyd.

Heads up wayfinding

The freestanding totem signs feature panoramic photography, showing the street scape in front of the sign, which allows instant recognition and a strong sense of place. Diagrammatic maps provide navigation over a wider area, and additional information gives data on key buildings and features. The signs are easily updatable to keep pace as the city changes.
